Here’s a bit about me
I met Nigel before COVID at a school where my mum worked. He sent me a game, and I absolutely loved it. A couple of weeks later, he invited me to play Dungeons & Dragons, and I jumped at the chance. When the lockdown hit, we had to pause our sessions, but I kept in touch with him, occasionally asking for game recommendations. After the lockdown, we resumed our D&D sessions. Nigel mentioned the events side of IG, and I was immediately interested. It sounded awesome and right up my alley. I attended UKGE with him and have been to most of the events since then.
That was about four years ago, which is hard to believe. Now, I work as the events organiser and stock coordinator for the company. Coming straight from Barnsley Sixth Form to work for the company was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m currently studying an apprenticeship while working, as I found it challenging to concentrate in a traditional college setting. The IG idea resonates with me because I believe there are many untapped alternatives and educational opportunities. I wanted to be part of the company that pioneers this.
Being a huge nerd helps me a lot in my job. My passion for games and all things nerdy sometimes gets me carried away, and I end up talking people’s ears off. Whether it’s Warhammer, The Dark Crystal, rugby, or Sentinels of the Multiverse, I can talk to anyone about anything.
In addition to organising events and managing stock, I also deliver sessions in schools each week. These are some of my favourite days because I love the engagement from the students and how funny the days can be.
