Daniel

Hi! I’m Daniel, part of team Imagination Gaming

Here’s a bit about me

Play to learn, Play to teach, Play for fun!

Games have always been something I have enjoyed. Like many my first experiences were with Monopoly with my family, however it was when I went to University that I got to experience Role Playing Games for the first time. This led to not only the new experience of a table top RPG but also introduced me to people who played many different games. I loved and embraced this new world of games that had been opened to me and now actively look for games with different themes and mechanics. I now own a substantial collection of games myself which cover a wide range of complexity and styles. I am also involved with a couple of board game groups, both as a player and as an instructor. Teaching games to my friends and their friends offers new challenges and I still thoroughly enjoy the opportunities.

The thing I love most about playing games is the experience between the people playing. Even in games where you don’t directly interact with the other players, just having everyone round the same table, laughing and joking, is what makes the hobby for me. I also truly believe that there is a game out there for everyone, they just need to experience it! Pairing this with my love of teaching and I have found the perfect combination in IG.

As an ex secondary school teacher and a current swimming coach, teaching and education have always been something I have been involved in. I love working with children and developing them has been a huge passion of mine. Board games have an amazing ability to bring children and adults into a world where they are applying knowledge in a way that they don’t always have the opportunity to. This drives me to try and offer this opportunity to as many people as possible. Seeing people enjoy and embrace these makes everything worth it!

I have also been at the forefront of our work with older adults. We have worked with both Dementia Cafes and support groups, engaging both the group members and their carers in a positive way. We are also working with libraries, engaging their older visitors either through their already existing groups or just through general drop in sessions. These have offered a new challenge and way of working, which have been a lot of fun.

Imagination Gaming has the opportunity to make a massive difference to so many people and I am very excited to be part of the journey!

Brilliant Feedback

From the moment we met Daniel and Nigel, we knew our children would be in for a treat! They initially supported our staff wellbeing evening; we had staff showing their competitive sides, working as teams and the laughter was what told me this was going to be a success!
