Aaron

Hi! I’m Aaron, part of team Imagination Gaming

Here’s a bit about me

Is it time for a game yet?

I’m a passionate boardgamer with a dangerously overflowing boardgame collection and a wishlist that would require a couple of lottery wins to satisfy.

I remember playing boardgames with my family when I was young and really enjoying them – just the usual suspects like Cluedo, Scrabble and Monopoly.
Then I didn’t make time for games again until about the mid 2010s when I started “Chinese food & game nights” with my friends and “Boardgame Mondays” with my parents. Plus a couple of years ago I started a monthly boardgame night with work colleagues where i’m attempting to convert them all into avid gamers.
The games played at these sessions are extremely varied, from light party games like Flip 7, Exploding Kittens and Telestrations; to crunchy classic euro games like Carcassonne, Orléans and The Castles Of Burgundy; and finally to the heavier immersive games like Scythe, Rising Sun and Mansions Of Madness.
So you can trust me when I say I believe in the benefits of having boardgames in your life.

On the days when i’m not making calls and sending emails in my role at Imagination Gaming, I work in Rotherham’s Libraries & Neighbourhood Hubs department. I did my work experience there while I was still at school and enjoyed it so much that I immediately took a job there and they haven’t been able to get rid of me since.
Whilst always keeping some hours with Rotherham Council I also spent some time in a special admissions role in Barnsley Hospital, and a few years as the Office Manager for a construction firm in Doncaster.

In 2019 I stepped out of my comfort zone and volunteered at the largest boardgames event in the country, the UK Games Expo. This ended up being an amazing weekend filled with fun, games and new friends, so I’ve gone back every year since (though purely as an attendee so that I have more time to play). It was the UK Games Expo that piqued my interest in actually working in the boardgames industry in some way, but it wasn’t until 2025 that I actually applied for anything after seeing Imagination Gaming were expanding their team.

Beyond boardgames i’m a big film geek with lists and lists of movies I want to watch, a music lover who would still rather own a CD than download something (oops, did I just reveal my age!?), and an animal lover who owns the neediest and cheekiest cockapoo that’s ever existed (yes, Bramble sleeps on the bed, and yes he gets more treats during the day than I do).

Ok, think i’ve broken past the word limit. Back to work.

Brilliant Feedback

We have had weekly Imagination Gaming sessions in school since January (2024) which have been a huge success. In a short space of time we could see an improvement in the children’s concentration, turn taking and social skills when they were playing games and working with the Imagination Gaming Team.
