Games Build Bridges… A Universal Language

This article described an on-going project in Beech Hill primary school in Halifax and demonstrates just some of the wide-ranging and powerful influences games can have in education when introduced in the 'right' way. Following an initial meeting with the Principal Officer for Primary Schools in Calderdale, Lawrence Killian, we were introduced to the Head and leadership team of a primary school that was looking for new initiatives to compliment both the curriculum and PSHE education from a fresh angle. One thing that stood out about this school was the sheer variety of nationalities that were present and the added hurdles such diversity can cause in school and the wider community. Why Games Work In Some Families And Not Others?

Is it just chance, or are there some common factors that affect or indeed afflict those families where the mention of playing a board game will trigger the strongest of reactions? Some will encounter groans or worse people making for the nearest door; meanwhile in other families peoples’ eyes light up and a stampede for the gaming cupbard ensues.  Let's examine why this can take place - and what we can do about it.

Welcome to the brand spanking new Imagination Gaming website.

As much as we loved the previous website, we knew we wanted to give you more, and this how we will be able to do it. I'm actually excited just talking about it, there's plenty of changes, and hopefully you'll see why... let us explain!

We - the Imagination Gaming team - are passionate about what we do and if you know us already I'm sure you'll be nodding your heads in agreement, at least I hope so. If this is your first time you've come across us we hope you will be inspired to investigate further. Those that do tell us it's worth it.
