Inter-school Tournament London

Inter-school Tournament London

On July 10th, Imagination Gaming had the pleasure of hosting a Primary School Inter-School Games Tournament in London. This exciting event was organised and funded by the wonderful Kensington and Chelsea Libraries.

Our venue for the day was Westminster Academy, where we received a truly warm welcome. We felt like royalty, greeted with friendly handshakes, and staff even offered to carry our bags. The weather was glorious, and on our way into the school, we passed the Vice Principal cycling into school. Living and working in central London clearly makes cycling a quick, healthy way to get around!

The Maths and Problem-Solving Inter-School Games Tournament was open to local schools, aiming to promote friendly competition and inspire young minds through a unique ‘mind-sport’ experience. Imagination Gaming Tournaments provide a fun, engaging alternative to traditional sports, encouraging critical thinking and teamwork.

It was a fantastic opportunity to challenge students and celebrate their problem-solving skills! The event featured a variety of educational and engaging games focused on maths, literacy, shapes, and reflexes, designed to be easy to learn and quick to play.

In the morning, school teams practiced the games and strategized on how to outsmart their opponents. After lunch, the teams were split onto different gaming tables, and the competition kicked off. The leader board was constantly changing throughout the afternoon, and the contest was incredibly close at the top.

In fact, the individual winner was decided in a playoff between Noar from Queens Park and Sam from St. Peter’s. The match was so tight that the winner was announced after a tense showdown. The moment was greeted with cheers and applause from children across all attending schools.

The overall winning school was Hallfield Primary School, narrowly beating Queens Park to become the highest-scoring school of the day.

For me, the highlight was seeing those smiling faces…children using their brains, laughing, socialising, and having an incredible amount of fun.

At the end of the tournament, The Principal Mrs Numera Anwar of Westminster Academy very kindly took all the pupil visitors on a tour of her school. What a great way to finish the day and a wonderful opportunity for the children to consider school options in the future.
