My First Airecon!

My First Airecon!

A group of children with lanyards

Well, obviously not Imagination Gaming’s first Airecon… but here’s a quick impression of this months event from one of the newer members of our growing team!

Take it away Jackie…

…How can I describe my first experience of working at Airecon? It was wonderful and tiring, it was fascinating and frustrating, it was mentally challenging but so much fun too. It was a unique experience!

I was working with Imagination Gaming in the Family Zone. Thirty plus games, three days and hundreds of families all wanting to learn and play with us.
Setting up was surprisingly straightforward but then it was time to start learning some new games and figuring out great ways to teach games I already knew. I was so pleased to see some favourites: StoryLine, Rhino Heroes, City of Zombies and Hey That’s My Fish to name a few and it was good to discover some great new games too like Tiny Park and Whoosh.

It was lovely to have a wander and meet some other folks in the games industry. I met some games designers and played some new games; I particularly liked Thieves – a game of strategy to get the gold and get out and Yogi – a brilliant take on the Twister concept but just using a deck of cards and your body… I lost the game and some dignity but had a great time playing!

I loved the giant games we brought too; Pandemic I absolutely adore – a cooperative game where we all have to work together to save the world, suits my personality down to the ground but I also fell a bit in love with Ticket to Ride. Perhaps it was one particular family that I played Ticket to Ride with that made me love it so? Martin, Sarah and Jack, longtime fans of the game, took me through some finer points of strategy and we had such a blast! Whoo Whoo! A big thanks to them… They said they had had a brilliant time but I am sure I enjoyed it even more than them to be honest!

I love what Imagination Gaming is doing and am really proud of what they achieve. I loved every exhausting minute of my weekend with them at Airecon.

Would I do it again? See you in 2019!
