A GAME OF TACTICS

OBJECT: For the mice: to collect the 10 pieces of cheese. For the cat: to catch the 4 mice before they collect all the pieces of cheese.

Once you have assembled the table and placed the tiles randomly on the floor, determine which player will be the cat and which one(s) will be the mice. The mice play together against the cat. The mice players can play any mouse on their turn. On your turn, you advance the number of squares corresponding to the result of the dice and turn over the tile on the square on which you land. Then carry out the action indicated on the tile (cheese, broken plate, +1, +2, a Super Move, etc.). When a mouse turns up a piece of cheese: she keeps it. If the cat lands exactly on a square occupied by a mouse, he catches it! The first team to accomplish its objective wins the game.

+++ A semi-cooperative game.

A game of observation and speed: Create odd animals by associating different “body” and “head” tiles. A player turns up the top card from the stack: if it is an animal’s head, all at the same time and as quickly as possible, the players try to find the strange animal with the same head, and make the animal call of the body paired with that head. Likewise, for everybody turned up, you all have to make the animal call of the head associated with it. The fastest player to make the animal call wins the card!

A GAME OF SKILL

OBJECT: To flick your puck as close to a baby penguin as possible without knocking anything over!

You sit the 3 daddy penguins on the triangular icebergs on the table: they delimit the playing area. You then place each of the 4 baby penguins on a puck in the middle of the playing area. You stack the counters into 5 piles, by colour, with the penguin side face up, next to the playing area. The players each take a puck. In turn, the players try to move their puck by flicking it towards the baby penguins. As soon as a player is close enough to a baby penguin for it to slide across onto her puck, she can take the top counter from the pile of the same colour as the baby she just moved, place it in front of her, and she thereby wins the points indicated on the back of the counter. As soon as the first pile of counters has been exhausted, the game stops and you count your points. Beware! If you knock over a penguin (a daddy or a baby) you have to take the top counter from the “cross daddy” pile, that can cost you points!

+++ A super slippery game of skill and strategy!

A game of tactics: The players each receive a type of fish which they do not reveal to the others. They each try to ensure that there are more of their fish than of any other type of fish on the table at the end of the game. On your turn, choose two cards from the stack: place one in your school of fish, and the other in an opponent’s school. The rules for laying fish down are simple: the card you lay down must have something in common with the cards next to it (background colour or type of fish). If a row of three cards of the same background colour is formed, these fish are turned over, and transformed into fish bones. There are also special cards which influence the game...

A PUZZLE GAME

OBJECT: To place as many pieces as possible on the board, so as to be left holding as few squares as possible at the end of the game.

Place all the pieces in the centre of the table. The pieces comprise 5 or 6 squares each. Firstly, the players choose their pieces one by one, in turn. Then they place them on the board, one by one, in turn, arranging them so as to leave their opponent(s) as few opportunities as possible for positioning their own pieces. When no-one can place another piece on the board, the game ends and players count the number of squares on the pieces have left. The winner is the player with the fewest squares left.

A collecting and memory game: Deal five fruit cards to each player, and lay ten other cards face down in the middle of the table. On your turn, turn up one of the ten cards on the table. If you are holding one or two cards in your hand of the same fruit as the card turned up, you can make a smoothie and win those cards. Otherwise, replace the card back on the table, and it is then the next player’s turn. The game ends as soon as one player runs out of cards, and the winner is the player who has won the most fruit.

A GAME OF TACTICS

OBJECT: To be the first to collect 7 coloured tokens in a given order.

Players each receive 7 coloured tokens which they line up in front of them: this sequence determines the order in which each player has to collect the coloured tokens on the board. In turn, players make “L-shaped” moves on the board. If, at the end of a move, you land on a token that corresponds to the next colour in your sequence: you pick it up. If you land on a special token you can use its “power” (extra move, protection, etc.). If you land on a square occupied by an opponent you can steal one of the tokens he has already collected. The first player to collect the 7 coloured tokens wins the game.

+++ Make the best use of the special squares on the board, which are arranged differently every time you play!

A GAME OF TACTICS

OBJECT: Create the best zoo with the most visitors around its animals.

Each player receives a board that will delimit his/her future zoo. During each round, the players play one after another and choose a path or enclosure tiles to build the zoo. Each tile features an icon suggesting a possible additional action: add “visitors” on one empty “path” tiles, move “visitor” pieces, move one of the “enclosure” tiles to another location. The game ends when none of the players can place another tile on their boards, and the points are counted. Each “visitor” piece next to an “enclosure” tile (not diagonally) earns one point.
